PFFA OFFICIALS

WHAT TO EXPECT

We expect our officials to demonstrate excellence, with prior flag football officiating experience, and playing experience.
PFFA Game Officiating Certification Process

To ensure the highest standards of officiating in PFFA games, all officials will be required to complete a structured training program, which includes a study guide booklet and a certification test. Here is the process:

  1. Study Guide Distribution:
Each official will receive a comprehensive study guide booklet tailored to the specific rules, regulations, and formats used in PFFA games. This booklet will serve as the foundation for their training and should be studied thoroughly. It will include:

    • Game format guidelines (e.g., team sizes, timekeeping, and scoring rules).
    • Standard gameplay mechanics (e.g., fouls, penalties, and challenges).
    • Role-specific responsibilities for referees.
  2. Self-Guided Learning:
Officials are encouraged to use the study guide for self-paced learning. It will feature clear examples, visual aids, and scenarios to illustrate complex rules and ensure a deep understanding.
  3. Certification Test:
After studying the booklet, officials will take a certification test that evaluates their knowledge of the rules and their ability to apply them during a game.

    • The test will cover both theoretical knowledge and practical scenarios.
    • A passing score of 80% or higher is required to officiate PFFA games.
  4. Re-Testing Opportunity:
If an official scores below 80%, they will be given feedback on their performance and an opportunity to retake the test after further review of the study guide.
  5. On-the-Field Training (Optional):
For additional preparation, officials may observe or practice officiating under supervision during scrimmages or training sessions.

By ensuring all officials pass this standardized test, we guarantee fair, consistent, and high-quality officiating for every PFFA game.

Payment Structure

We value your time and want to ensure clarity about how our payment system works:

  1. Pay Per Game:
    • Payment is based on a per-game rate that translates to an hourly rate of approximately $25-$30 per hour, depending on the game’s duration and structure.
  2. Flexible Payment Options:
    • We offer several convenient payment methods to suit your preferences:
      • Cash App
      • Apple Pay
      • Venmo
      • Zelle
      • Check
  3. Payment Timing:
    • You will receive your payment the day after the event concludes.

This structure allows for fair compensation and provides flexibility in how you receive your earnings. Let us know if you have any questions or special preferences!

Mandatory Training Session

To ensure everyone is well-prepared and comfortable with the expectations for a Tournmant, we are requiring a one-hour, in-person paid training session for all officals. This session will provide essential information, address any questions, and ensure a smooth and successful event experience for everyone involved.

Key Details:

  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Format: In-person
  • Compensation: This is a paid training session (Paid after the event)
  • Timing: Scheduled a few days prior to the event (We will let you know)

Attendance is mandatory, as the session will cover important details such as roles, responsibilities, procedures, and any specific guidelines to follow during the event.

Gameday Check-In

  • Arrival Requirement:
Officials must arrive one hour before the start of their first scheduled game. This allows time for:

    • Reviewing assignments and game-specific details.
    • Conducting warm-ups or pre-game discussions.
    • Resolving any unexpected issues before games begin.
  • Availability Commitment:
    Officials are required to:

    • Be present and available during all scheduled game days for their assigned style of play.
    • Remain flexible to accommodate adjustments to game times or assignments.

These expectations ensure that officials are fully prepared and contribute to the smooth operation and professionalism of the event.

Official Attire Policy

All officials must wear the standard official attire provided by PFFA at all times while performing their duties. This requirement ensures a consistent, professional appearance and helps maintain the credibility and integrity of our organization.

The attire is designed to make officials easily identifiable and to reflect the standards of our organization. Officials are responsible for maintaining their uniforms in good condition and adhering to any specific guidelines regarding its use. Replacements or updates to the attire will be managed through the appropriate channels. Compliance with this policy is mandatory and essential for upholding our professional image.
